Biography
Sara Dezalay est Professeur de Science Politique à ESPOL. Avant de rejoindre l’école, elle était lectrice à la Cardiff School of Law and Politics de l’Université de Cardiff.
Elle est également chercheuse associée à l’Institut des Mondes Africains (IMAF) ; membre du comité éditorial des Actes de la recherche en sciences sociales ; rédactrice associée de Law & Social Inquiry ; et membre du International Affairs Committee, Law and Society Association.
En 2020-2022, elle a été juge auxiliaire, nommée par le HCR, à la Cour nationale du droit d’asile.
Elle est titulaire d’un doctorat en droit de l’Institut universitaire européen.
Les recherches actuelles de Sara Dezalay portent sur les rôles joués par le droit et les juristes dans la négociation et la justification de la relation inégale et inégalitaire entre le sud de l’Afrique et l’économie mondiale. Déployant une stratégie de recherche combinant sociologie politique du droit et histoire globale, elle adopte une approche multi-scalaire, examinant les dynamiques de changement juridique, social et politique au niveau domestique (au Burundi, en RDC, en Côte d’Ivoire) et sur la scène internationale (politiques et pratiques d’intervention ; mécanismes internationaux de règlement des litiges; plaidoyer transnational ; stratégies de contentieux transnational).
En 2022-2024, elle est également co-PI, avec Sharon Weill (Université américaine de Paris), d’une subvention de 30 000 euros de la Mission droit et justice (ministère français de la Justice) pour mener une étude pluridisciplinaire et comparative de la justice d’asile en France, en Grèce et au Royaume-Uni.
