The Groupement d’Intérêt Scientifique Euro-lab – Réseau de recherche interdisciplinaire sur l’Union européenne (Scientific Interest Group – Interdisciplinary Research Network on the European Union) is a large research network whose purpose is to federate all academics in the humanities and social sciences who work on the European Union.
Academic research on the European Union in France today is rich and diverse. However, its development and dissemination are currently hampered by disciplinary compartmentalisation, institutional fragmentation and a still insufficient national and international public visibility. Taking note of these difficulties, in order to remedy them, 24 French academic institutions led by the University of Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne and the CNRS have proposed to form a scientific interest group dedicated to this academic research on European issues.
The purpose of the GIS “Euro-Lab – Réseau de recherche interdisciplinaire sur l’Union européenne” is to contribute to the development, visibility and dissemination of research on the European Union, and to encourage collective and interdisciplinary reflection on training in European issues in universities. The scientific interest group has the following missions:
The ICL is one of the entities involved in the creation and development of the project, through Ms Oriane Calligaro and Mr Thierry Chopin, project leaders for ESPOL.
