Paul

My name is Paul, I am 21 years old, and I have just finished my Bachelor’s degree in political science at ESPOL.

It’s with a bit of nostalgia that I fly away to new adventures even if I know that ESPOL will never be far away. ESPOL has given me a lot, both on a personal level through the people I met, but also academically by teaching me that political science is a legitimate science.

I was already interested in the European Union (EU) before I came to ESPOL, and I was able to develop this interest over the three years. Some people say that at the end of the Bachelor’s degree we studied the EU from every angle, personally it fed my curiosity and interest in it.

In this respect, this year I had the opportunity to be an ambassador for European careers (EPSO – the European Personnel Selection Office) for ESPOL. I was able to promote in my own way the career opportunities in the EU. Even if you study the history, law and functioning of the European institutions, you often ignore the day-to-day work of European civil servants. It is this practical aspect that I wanted to develop, because if political science gives us analytical tools to understand the world, in the end, we have to choose in the service of whom and of which ideas or project,
we put our knowledge into practice.

ESPOL has definitely motivated my European project, not only is Europe interesting to me as an object of study, but it remains above all an environment that stimulates me deeply. Next year, I will join the MSc Political Economy of Europe at the London School of Economics and Political Science.
