He was one of the most influential British international relations theorist in his generation, known for his work on the theory of democracy, globalisation and cosmopolitanism.<\/p>\n<p>In the context of Pr. Olivier de Frouville\u2019s Institut Universitaire de France (IUF) program of research (\u00ab Autour d\u2019une th\u00e9orie d\u00e9mocratique du droit international \u00bb) the Paris Human Rights Center is organizing a conference to pay tribute to his life and work, from critical theory to contemporary cosmopolitanism.<\/p>\n<p>The conference, which will gather members of David Held\u2019s family, international lawyers, philosophers, international relations theorists, will take place at the University Paris 2 Panth\u00e9on-Assas, 12, place du Panth\u00e9on, 75005 Paris on the 12th and the 13th of November 2020, room 4.<\/p>\n<p>The program will be communicated soon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a class=\"gdlr-button medium with-border\" href=\"https:\/\/www.crdh.fr\/2020\/03\/from-critical-theory-to-cosmopolitanism-a-tribute-to-david-held-1951-2019\/\" target=\"_blank\"  style=\"color:#ffffff; background-color:#b99e57; border-color:#8f7a42; \"  >More information<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The conference, which was originally to take place on the 5th of May is postponed to the 12th and 13th of November 2020.
